ESTAS TONNE
Born in Soviet Ukraine on April 24, 1975. He trained in guitar playing in the URSS for 6 years, later moving with his entire family to Israel, where he severed any connection to music and his instrument, the guitar.
At the end of 2001 he arrived in New York with the intention of finding his place in the musical world, and reconnected with the guitar. In 2002 he formed a team with virtuoso violinist Michael Shulman, an they went through the city of New York performing concerts.
Since then, he hasn't stopped performing concerts in various cities in the United States, Mexico, India, Israel, and various countries in Europe.
His music is a fusion between the classic structure, the flamenco technique with gypsy roots, and characteristics of Latino and electronic landscaping, a variety of styles that flow through each other almost without notice, demonstrating as well as surprising with a harmonic sound structure that reaches the audience in a different way in each performance, with a single form and melody.
His home is the world and the sky and his friends the warmth he needs. You can find him playing in the port of San Franciscno, or in a coldly warm night in Isla Mujeres. Or on the other side of the world. Estas Tonne is of that rare, dying breed of the troubadours, those wandering singers who tell the world what they observe in their trips, which equally brighten your day or sweeten your heart. With his sight set in the future, Tonne acknolodges that, no matter how much time may pass, "what's important is the dignity of the being and the relationship with ourselves and the world".
